A ban on open burning has been issued for Cass County in southwest Iowa. Cass County’s emergency management consulted with fire chiefs in the area and then asked the state Fire Marshall to issue the ban yesterday. The ban covers open burning and will be in effect as long as dry conditions persist.Burning is still allowed, though, in outdoor fireplaces, barbeque grills and trash incinerators.
