The 33rd annual Winnebago-Itasca Travelers Grand National Rally starts tomorrow (Sunday) across the street from Winnebago Industries main plant in Forest City. Rally Club General Manager Dennis Burkholder says people drive their motor homes from every state in the nation except Hawaii, and people also come from several Canadian provinces.Burkholder says there are a variety of events that take place for members during the rally week. There’s a Thursday night concert by Lee Greenwood. Burkholder says Greenwood’s “God Bless the U-S-A” is a perfect fit for this year’s rally theme, “Salute to Freedom.” The rally officially begins Sunday, but Burkholder says some people have been camped at the rally grounds for weeks. The rally is not open to the public. Other events taking place at the rally include a women’s driving class, a motor home rodeo, and another challenge in which a husband backs a motor home through an obstacle course while his wife is outside providing instructions on a two-way radio.
