Iowa State beat Kansas 45-3 Saturday in Ames, but I-S-U coach Dan McCarney is downplaying the blowout. He says it was very workman-like, not very flashy. He says it was a solid win, but not a great, great win overall. The lone Kansas score — a field goal — came on the final play of the third quarter. Iowa State amassed 511 yards on offense, while holding Kansas to just 150 yards. McCarney says they weren’t real sharp in the first half, but they really dominated the fourth quarter for the second game in a row.No other Big 12 teams have played, so Iowa State will own first place in the Big 12’s northern division until conference games begin in earnest October 5th.
