Two Iowans were recently inducted into the new Agriculture Safety and Health Hall of Fame as a prelude to “Farm Safety Week” next week. The Hall of Fame is the creation of the Iowa Center for Agriculture Health and Safety at the University of Iowa. I-CASH director Kelly Donaham says one of the first inductees is Dr. Pete Knapp.Knapp started the Institute of Agricultural Medicine at the U-of-I College of Medicine. Donham says Knapp has the personality that fit the job.He says Knapp is one of those people who inspires others, and has made significant contributions to agricultural safety. The other inductee is Marilyn Adams. Adams founded the group “Farm Safety 4 Just Kids” after the death of her son in a farm accident.He says Adams developed a national organization out of her grief. Adams and Knapp were named to the Agriculture Safety and Health Hall of Fame in a ceremony last week.
