The U-S House of Representatives today passed a resolution honoring former Iowa State wrestler Cael Sanderson for his undefeated career in college wrestling. Iowa Congressman Tom Latham introduced the resolution. He says Sanderson is the pride of Iowa State and the entire state of Iowa.California democratic Congressman George Miller talked in support of the resolution.He says just being named an outstanding wrestler at Iowa State would be a feat, but he says Sanderson’s undefeated career in 159 matches was an incredible feat. Ohio republican Congressman John Boehner also spoke on the house floor.He says Sanderson’s contributions as a two-time academic all-American also speak loudly of his contribution to excellence. Sanderson was in Washington today where he was congratulated by President Bush for his accomplishments.Sanderson says the President congratulated him and said he looked forward to seeing him wrestle in the Olympics.Sanderson says he’s beginning training again as he looks to further his career in freestyle wrestling.
