Organizers of a move to buy and re-open the closed packing plant at Tama held a news conference this morning with word of success that could mean 600 jobs. The Iowa Quality Beef Supply Cooperative Harvest facility is moving forward in Tama. More than seven million dollars was raised in an equity drive that began August 5th. The money will renovate and pay for the start of new construction at the Iowa Quality Beef Supply Cooperative Harvest facility in Tama. Seven-hundred-55 members own stock in the Iowa Quality Beef Supply Cooperative. Members live in 95 of Iowa’s 99 counties, and in 12 states. Seven-point-two million dollars in all was raised from the shares purchased by family farms, agribusinesses, and individual investors.
