An Iowa lawmaker was hurt in a car crash near Waterloo on Wednesday afternoon.Out-going state Senator Betty Sukup (soo’-kup), a Democrat from New Hampton, received minor injuries in the two-vehicle crash. Bremer County authorities say Sukup was southbound on US Highway 63 around two o’clock Wednesday afternoon when her car left the road and rolled, coming to rest in a water-filled ditch, south of the town of Denver. A pickup truck was also involved in the accident but its driver was not hurt. The accident is under investigation. No charges have been filed.
