A Grafton man is in serious condition at a Mason City hospital aftercrashing his pickup truck into a culvert near Grafton in Worth County.Vandals removed barricades closing Warbler Avenue as county workers weredigging a new drainage ditch. Worth County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Fankresponded to the call Tuesday morning and saw the barricades hrown into theditch along the road, and he then found the pickup truck in theten-foot-deep culvert. Fank says it is a miracle 38-year-old Randy Seversonwas not killed in the accident. Authorities are still researching whatcharges will be filed. Fank says tinkering with constructions sites isalways a big problem. Severson is in serious condition at Mercy MedicalCenter-North Iowa in Mason City. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office isoffering a reward of up to $2500 for information leading to the arrest andconviction of those who removed the barricades.
