Northern Iowa took Southern Illinois to overtime last night before losing 88-78. The Panthers led at halftime but couldn’t close out the game and missed a shot that would’ve given them the win in regulation. Coach Greg McDermott says it was a matter of a bad bounce as he says sometimes it takes a little luck to pull off the win.UNI played the game with just six scholarship players dressed and McDermott says they put up a good fight and he can’t fault his guys effort.McDermott says he’s calling this team the “Bad News Bears” to keep them working despite some tough times, as he says they’re not going to be pretty, but they have to find a way to get the job done.UNI falls to 2-5 in the Missouri Valley and plays Southwest Missouri State Saturday.
