The Northern Iowa football team opens spring drills looking to bounce back from an uncharacteristic sub-par season. U-N-I finished 5-6 last season and has ten starters back, including quarterback Tom Petrie who coach Mark Farley calls a solid number-one. He says that’s an upside heading into spring, he says the downside is trying to find a backup. One addition to the Panthers is former Cedar Falls All-State running back Terrence Freeny. He says he’s never seen Freeney in a live situation so he doesn’t know how good he really is, but he believes Freeney will be good. Farley says the spring workouts will hopefully set the tone for next season. U-N-I’s spring game is April 26th
