Iowa State’s Ann O’Neil will be part of a Big-12 women’s all-star team that will represent the U.S. at the World University Games in South Korea next month. The squad will be directed by Cyclone coach Bill Fennelly who looks forward to the challenge of international competition. He says this is his first opportunity to coach such a team after dreaming about it. The team will meet in Colorado Springs for about a week of practice before heading to the tournament. He says he’s going to ask people to check their egos as they only have five days to prepare. Fennelly says the different international styles will be a new experience for the players and coaches. He says there are a lot of very good teams, including the Australians and Canadians who are in the U.S. pool. The World University Games are August 20th through the 31st.
