A northeast Iowa man’s back in custody again, after fleeing sheriff’s officers for a short time this (Friday) morning. At a quarter past midnight, officers served an arrest warrant on Jeffrey Friis, who hadn’t returned after being given a leave of absence from the Fayette County jail. As the officers approached his home, they say Friis took off and fled into a nearby cornfield. They called in the K-9 unit and the dogs found him a short time later. They arrested the man without incident, took him to the Clayton County jail, and planned to send him to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale.
