The owners of a rare plant nursery in Chickasaw County have been busted for growing marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms. The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office says they seized about 10 pounds of mushrooms and another 10 pounds of marijuana from the Perennial Flower Farm near Ionia Friday night. Steven and Caroline Bertrand were arrested on charges of manufacturing marijuana, manufacturing psilocybin mushrooms, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of tax-stamp violations. Authorities say the Bertrands grew the drugs in a greenhouse separate from the nursery operation. The Bertrands posted bond on Sunday. If convicted, they face up to 10 years in prison on the different charges.
