The search of abandoned property in northeast Iowa has turned up no new clues in a 25-year-old missing persons case. Officials spent yesterday searching a rundown farm house and field in Bremer County. Investigators were looking for evidence in the 1978 disappearance of Steven Kirchhoff of Waterloo. A recent tip led officials to the abandoned property near Oran, which at one time was known to be the site of much alleged criminal activity. Investigators say their search turned up nothing. They didn’t disclose any details about the recent tip or what they were looking for. Several federal, state, and local law enforcement officials were involved in the search. Authorities are still hoping someone comes forward with information that will solve the case.
