Northwestern College remains tenth this week in the latest N-A-I-A football poll. The Red Raiders are 7-1 heading into Saturdays visit to Dana of Nebraska and are coming off what coach Orv Otten felt was a much needed week off as they had some guys who were injured and needed some time to heal. With a victory this week the Red Raiders would figure to be a good bet to qualify for the national playoffs. Otten says they don’t want to leave that to chance. He says they need to win the next ballgames as last year there were two teams that finished 8-2 that didn’t get in.Northwestern’s defense yields less than 100-yards of rushing per game. That has made opposing offenses get more risky and that has led to a high number of turnovers. On offense Northwestern has displayed balance between the run and the pass and Otten says a number of different players have a role.Northwestern is second in the Great Plains Conference race.
