Northern Iowa begins thinking about next season this week after wrapping up this past season as the only mens’ team in the state to make the N-C-A-A Tournament. The Panthers made a run before falling to 65-60 to a Georgia Tech team that’s advanced to the “Sweet Sixteen”. Coach Greg McDermott said on the after the game, UNI Sports Radio Network that this is a season to build on. He says it was a great learning experience and to have so many young players to experience it is a real tribute to his guys.McDermott’s biggest job next year is replacing seniors David Gruber and Matt Schneirderman, who let the Panthers with their inside play. He says they set a tremendous example on how things are supposed to be done.U-N-I finished the season at 21-10, including the Missouri Valley Tournament Championship and the N-C-A-A bid.
