Iowa law officers will give out warnings instead of tickets the next 18 months as parents get used to Iowa’s new child safety seat law. But an advocate for the new law says you shouldn’t wait to begin following the law. Kathy Leggett of the Iowa Safe Kids Coalition encourages parents to avoid thinking they can put it off for a year and a half. She says you should do whatever you can to ensure your following the proper standards to be sure your children are safe in a motor vehicle now. Leggett says there’s plenty of information to help you. You can go to the website: www.blankchildrens.org/cps. Leggett says you child can be severely injured or killed if you wait and don’t see that they’re properly restrained in your car.
