An Illinois woman was killed yesterday (Sunday) in a car accident just south of Amana. 36-year old Agnes Alivio of Woodridge, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Highway 151 just 3 miles south of Amana. Alivio was a passenger in a car driven by Mary Genciana of Willowbrook, Illinois. Apparently, Genciana was northbound on the highway when the car dropped onto the shoulder. She then overcorrected to get out of the shoulder and crossed into the southbound lane where she collided with a vehicle driven by Heath Jensen of Greenfield, Iowa. Genciana and another passenger were treated for injuries at the University of Iowa Hospital. Jensen suffered minor injuries. Both cars were totaled. Alivio was in the back seat of Genciana’s car and was not wearing a seat belt.
