Iowans can expect the price of gasoline to do some more sliding. Oil futures dropped more than two dollars on Thursday to below 49-dollars a barrel as Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s failing health boosted hopes for Middle East peace. Financial advisor Bob Potter says it’ll translate to cheaper gas prices, for now. “I think prices at the pump are going to go down, but they’ll go down slowly. They seem to be a little stickier on the down side than they do on the up side, but I do think that we probably will see a few cents off on the price of a gallon of gas before too terribly long.” Arafat is seen by some as a barrier to peace in the Middle East. The average price for a gallon of gas in Iowa is currently a dollar-92. The national average is two-dollars even.
