Drake coach Tom Davis says the Bulldogs modest two game winning streak may not be constituted as a roll but his team is gaining confidence. Drake is 6-7 over and could reach the 500 mark with a victory at Illinois State on Saturday. A reason for the improvement? The Bulldogs have turned up ther pressure on defense. Davis says the other teams are getting better at attacking at the same time their defense is getting better, so it’s kind of a chess match to see who improves the most.Illinois State has had a week to prepare for this game while the Bulldogs have been idle since a Monday night victory over Texas A @ M-Corpus Cristi. He says the advantage is in the turnaround time for the game. He says they’ve gotten well enough into the season now that the teams are all well scouted.Illinois State coach Porter Moser says he liked the week to prepare. He says when you play against one of Davis’ teams, you need as much time to prepare as you can get.
