A former Maharishi university student’s murder trial will take place in front of a judge, not a jury. Attorneys for 25-year-old Shuvender Sem of Lancaster, Pennsylvania filed papers waiving his right to a jury trial. Sem was originally declared not fit to stand trial due to his mental health, but that was changed after treatment. A roomful of witnesses say Sem stabbed 19-year-old Levi Butler to death in the school’s former dining hall on March 1st 2004. Sem was also charged with assault for stabbing another student with a pen on the same day. Sem is set to go to trial in June.
