Another delay in a Black Hawk County murder trial. Jury selection was supposed to begin this (Tuesday) morning in the trial of 26-year-old Shawn Washington of Waterloo, but the judge rescheduled it to give attorneys time to prepare. Washington’s charged with first-degree murder in the death of Thyanna Parsons. He’s one of 7 people charged in the fatal shooting, which happened at an after-hours party last October. Washington’s 21-year-old brother Joseph is also charged with first-degree murder in Parsons’ death. They were initially scheduled to be tried together in May, but that trial was also postponed. Officials say Joseph Washington’s working on a plea deal with prosecutors that will likely keep him from going to trial.
