The Iowa Hawkeyes and UNI Panthers will meet for the first time since 1997 tomorrow when they collide in Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes will be looking to bounce back from a 23-3 loss at Iowa State and takes on a Panther team that is 2-0 and ranked 12th nationally in 1-AA. The Hawkeyes are a heavy favorite but coach Kirk Ferentz says the Panthers have a lot of weapons.Sophomore Eric Sanders has completed more than 80 percent of his passes through two games and Ferentz says the Hawks recruited Sanders while he was a high school standout at Oelwein. He says they had conversations and Sanders seriously looked at them, but then they recruited other quarterbacks. Ferentz says it has worked out very well for Sanders and he’s happy for him. After a poor performance last week the Hawkeyes want to bounce back with a solid effort.
