Some strong winds blew through western Iowa Sunday night. Mindy Albrecht, with the National Weather Service, says most of the damage involved downed tree limbs.

In Audubon County, tree and tree limbs blocked some roads and near Red Oak, a power pole fell on a car. Sixty to seventy mile per hour winds also caused tree damage in Warren, Clarke, Crawford, Cass, Adair, and Guthrie Counties. There was also a report of a pick up that was blown off of I-29 near Glenwood. Albrecht says the forecast for today involves more extreme heat.

A heat advisory is in effect through tomorrow for much of central and south central Iowa, with heat indices reaching 105 to 110 degrees.
