It appears Republicans — and Democrats — may have a date in January. The Iowa Democratic Party’s State Central Committee will meet this Sunday at eight o’clock and their single agenda item is setting the date for their Iowa Caucuses.

The Iowa Republican Party’s State Central Committee met earlier this month and settled on Thursday, January 3, 2008 as the date for the GOP’s precinct caucuses. Carrie Giddins, a spokeswoman for the Iowa Democratic Party, says party leaders intend to recommend that Democrats hold their precinct-level meetings on January 3 as well.
