A missing hunter has been found dead in central Iowa. The Marshall County Sheriff’s office this weekend assisted in the search for a missing man who was participating in the Central Iowa Coon Hunters competition in Marshall County.

Twenty-five-year-old Preston Lee Luft from Carroll went missing about 2 A.M. Saturday as he was attempting to locate his dog which had gone missing. Authorities were called when Luft didn’t return.

The search focused on the Iowa River at the Three Bridges Park, near Quarry. A group of coon hunters found the body at 11 P.M. Saturday evening in dense woodland area on the north side of the river.

The recovery concluded at 2 A.M. Sunday. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
