State and local investigators are re-canvassing the Evansdale as they continue to search for clues about the disappearance of two girls more than three months ago.

Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson says officers have been going door-to-door asking residents questions about the case.

“The re-canvassing is just an acknowledgment of the fact that there were likely people who weren’t home at the time of the

first canvas of the neighborhoods,” Thompson said. “There may be people who may’ve seen something but have not had the gumption to come forward.”

Eleven-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 9-year-old Elizabeth Collins went missing on July 13.

The cousins’ bicycles were found near Meyers Lake in Evansdale. The case is being investigated as an abduction and law officers are hoping to generate new leads – while revisiting old ones.

“We’re still working,” Thompson said. “We still have the partnerships with the DCI and FBI and we’re extremely committed to not giving up and leaving no stone unturned.”

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Evansdale police (319-232-6682) or the FBI (402-493-8688) or email: [email protected].
