A Dubuque woman will spend 11 years in federal prison for cooking meth near a school. Court records show 53-year-old Julie Uhrig caused a fire while trying to make meth at a Dubuque residence that was within 1,000 feet of a school.

There was also a young child present at the time of she was making the meth and the fire broke out. Uhrig pled guilty to attempted manufacturing of meth near a school.

Uhrig was sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $142,000 in restitution to the owner of the residence where the fire broke out.

Two other Dubuque residents were charged in the case. Nicholas Clark pled guilty to making false statements about the identity of the person cooking the meth. Dawn Richey pled guilty to aiding and abetting Uhrig’s attempted manufacture of methamphetamine. Both will be sentenced at a later date.
