Iowa State overcame a slow start by outscoring Lamar 21-2 to close the opening half enroute to a 96-59 win in Hilton Coliseum. Matt Thomas led five Cyclones in double figures with 14 points.

“Matt Thomas took the lid off our basket, hit a few, then we got our transition game going and went in with a 16 point lead and I really challenged them to get off to a better start in the second half,” ISU coach Fred Hoiberg said.

The Cyclones had 16 steals in the game and Hoiberg says to score 44 points off turnovers was huge. He says the team was “on point” with most of what they were trying to do in the game.

Iowa State improves to 4-1.
