Sheriff-patrolA traffic stop in rural Boone County led to the discovery of multiple pipe bombs Monday.

Boone County Chief Deputy, Rick Lampe says it started when a deputy stopped 39-year-old Leanna Haidisak for excessive speed on a road leading to her home west of Madrid.

“And that’s when he found what he believed to be three pipe bombs in the car,” Lampe says. Deputies then got a search warrant and found “Numerous explosive devices, numerous weapons all over the acreage out there and inside vehicles.”

Haidisak and her boyfriend 42-year-old Tjaden Mallory were arrested. Lampe says they don’t know for sure why the couple had all the explosives, and they were not offering any explanation.

“No, they never said a word,” according the Lampe. The area around the home was closed off for about 12 hours as Lampe says the state Fire Marshal’s office was called in to handle the explosives.

and Lampe says they set off most the devices that were found.

Lampe says this was far from the routine things they handle every day, calling it “extremely unusual.” The FBI was also called in and they are trying to find out more about why the couple had the pipe bombs in their home. The two are being held in the Boone County Jail.
