agwsrIt has been a smooth transition to 8-man football at AGWSR where the sixth ranked Cougars are at home against top ranked Don Bosco. James Koop is in his first season as the head coach at AGWSR and says his past experience as an assistant under John Seiser at Northeast Hamilton helped in the transition.

“I knew that we could convert our 11-man offense to 8-man and I knew what some of the tendencies were and I talked to him this summer along with some of the assistants that I worked with at Northeast Hamilton”, sais Koop. “Our kids have had really positive attitude about making the change and the community has been supportive.”

This is a big test for the Cougars but Koop but it is a program that has enjoyed success with three straight playoff appearances in class A. Koop says they will be playing a very confident opponent in Don Bosco.

“Some of the edge Don Bosco has is that I don’t think they have lost a regular season game since dropping to 8-man”, added Koop. “That gets off the bus with you and you have got to look past that and look at it as a regular game.”
