Food costs drop

The American Farm Bureau says it cost a little less to buy food at thegrocery store in the second quarter of 1999. The price of the 16 items fell to thirty-two dollars and five cents. FarmBureau spokesman Dave Kelley says it’s the first decrease in their survey ofsince the first quarter of 1988.Kelley says milk and cheese saw the biggest drop in price.Five items in the survey increased in price — flour, potatoes, bacon,ground chuck and apples.
