Bauer wants vouchers for home schoolers

Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer says parents who “home-school”their kids should get new tax credits and access to “vouchers” others mayreceive for sending their kids to another public or a private school.

“Vouchers” — labeled “school choice” by some — would be given to parentswho choose to send their kids to a private school or a public school outsidethe district in which they live.During a news conference at his campaign headquarters in Des Moines, Bauerwas surrounded by several dozen “homeschoolers”Bauer was an under-secretary of education in the Reagan Administration.
