State exhibit wins award

An exhibit at the State Historical Society of Iowa chronicaling the impactof horses on our state is being singled out for a national award. Museumdirector Jerome Thompson says the American Association for State and LocalHistory has given its Award of Merit to the exhibit.Thompson says the exhibit called, “Hay Days: The Horse in Iowa History,”shows how important horses were to Iowa.Thompson says the exhibit is unique because several “non-traditional”partners were used to put it together such as the Iowa State University VetSchool. The exhibit runs through April 2001 at the state historical building. Thereis also a touring exhibit that is currently in Charles City.
