Davenport considering cameras to catch traffic violators

Davenport’s new slogan may soon be “smile you’re on candid camera.” TheDaveport City Council is discussing installing video cameras at trafficlights to automatically snap pictures of drivers who run red lights. Thephoto and a traffic ticket would be mailed to violaters. Police Chief SteveLynn says it would be a way to catch violators without having to add moreofficers to the force.Lynn says people from out of town would most likely get the most ticketsfrom the new system.The council is in the preliminary stages of discussing the project.
