December 16, 1999 By admin

Northern Iowa and Drake both return to college basketball action on Sunday. The Panthers will take a 7-1 record into an in-state matchup with Iowa State in Ames. The game will mark a return for U-N-I center Tyler Peterson who began his college career at Iowa State. U-N-I coach Sam Weaver says they are still unsure about the status of point guard Andy Woodley, who suffered a partially pulled hamstring in the victory over Bowling Green. The Bulldogs open Missouri Valley Conference play with a tough test as they host pre-season favorite Bradley. Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie says it’s a tough way to open the conference season. The Bulldogs have displayed scoring balance in their 4-2 start. Kanaskie says that is a strength but also shows a weakness in the Bulldogs as they don’t have one big time scorer.
