January 20, 2000 By admin

The state of Iowa saw an increase in the unemployment rate in December. The December unemployment rate was two-point-two percent, up slightly from the record two-point-one percent in November. Sha Khan, labor market analyst for Iowa Workforce Development, says this increase in unemployment is nothing to worry about.Iowa’s unemployment rate is still well below the four-point-one percent national rate.Khan says the low unemployment continues to cause problems for several professions looking for workers.Khan says for Iowa’s businesses to expand and attract people there is going to have to be an increase in Iowa’s labor force.
