Cyclone men and women get different results in big games

The ninth-ranked Iowa State women claimed their tenth consecutive victory by downing 23rd ranked North Carolina 79-67 before a national television audience. Stacy Frese led five cyclones in double figures with 16 points, including four three pointers while Angie Welle chipped in with 14. The cyclones shots only 41-percent for the game and commmitted 25 turnovers, but made up for it by outreboudiung the Tar Heels 55-39. The Cyclones are now 14-2 and return to big 12 play on Tuesday by hosting Kansas State. The Iowa State men return to action Wednesday when they host Texas A&M. The Cyclones saw their school record 13-game winning streak come to an end with an 80-75 double overtime loss Saturday. At 4-1 the Cyclones are part of a four-way logjam at the top of the Big 12 standings and they stand 16-3 overall.
