Small schools start quest for baseball state title

The tournament trail begins for high school baseball teams tonight with the opening round of district action in classes 1A and 2A. In class 1A, defending state champion Granville Spalding opens at home against Harris-Lake Park. Spalding coach Bill Wuebker realizes his team will be targeted on the tournament trail as everybody wants to beat the defending champ to make their season.Wuebker says every team is susceptible to a great pitching performance from the opponent.Wuebker says one advantage his team had last year was a clear rotation in the tournament, but they don’t have the same luxury this year.
