Oelwein toddler run over by mother

August 16, 2001 By admin

A two-year old Oelwein child is recovering after being run over by his mother.Oelwein police say the boy, who was not in a car seat, apparently opened the door and fell under the car and was run over by the left rear tire. The boy’s mother, Melanie Pates, was driving the car yesterday in the parking lot of a local store when the boy fell out. He was taken to the Oelwein Hospital and then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. Police say the boy suffered injuries to his liver and lung, but the injuries are not life threatening.
