Deer/semi accident causes trouble on I-380

March 13, 2002 By admin

An early morning semi wreck north of Cedar Rapids slowed the morning commute and contaminated a creek. After swerving to avoid a deer, trucker Rodney Braun of Lincoln, North Dakota, slammed into an I-380 bridge just south of Center Point and plunged into Otter Creek. The 38-year-old trucker suffered only minor injuries in the two a-m accident. Traffic was slowed as authorities closed the inside northbound and southbound lanes to give crews room to clean up the mess. Officials estimate 60 gallons of diesel and some oil leaked into the waterway.
