The Iowa State Patrol has added to its already record total of illegal drugs seized. Sergeant Tim Leinen says the latest seizure came Thursday on I-80 near Council Bluffs when a trooper stopped a sport utility vehicle for speeding. He says the trooper requested permission to search the vehicle and the two women inside agreed. The search yielded three suitcases containing 120 pounds of marijuana worth 175-thousand dollars. Leinen says the two women in the vehicle were from California and were arrested. They both face felony drug charges and are being held in the Pottawattamie County jail. Leinen says the patrol has already made a record amount of drug seizures in just three-and-a-half months of this year.He says they’ve already seized drugs that’re estimated to be worth 10-million-600-thousand dollars. That’s already well above last year’s total seizures of six-point-seven million dollars.
