Mason City man pulled from burning home by neighbors

April 16, 2002 By admin

An elderly Mason City man is in the hospital with severe burns after being pulled from a burning house by his neighbors. Firefighters were called to 631 South Polk shortly before seven o’clock last night after citizens saw flames in a side window and heard shouts for help. Joseph Moor was pulled from the house by several neighbors and taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City before being transferred to the University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where his condition is listed as critical with burns suffered to his body. Mason City fire officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
