An Alta man is facing a hate crime charge after allegedly attacking a mentally challenged man. Storm Lake police say the 44-year-old man was attacked, assaulted and robbed of his wallet after leaving a convenience store. The man suffered bruises on his head and hands. Storm Lake and Alta police arrested 18-year-old Lucan Kuhse and charged him with second-degree robbery, first-degree theft, aggravated assault and a violation of civil rights. Also arrested were Travis Mattson, and Branden Pryor for aiding and abetting a robbery. Twenty-two-year-old Jim Wipkey was arrested on fifth-degree theft.
