UNI volleyball team opens NCAA Tourney

December 6, 2002 By admin

The Northern Iowa volleyball team opens the N-C-A-A East Region in the West Gym tonight. The Panthers are the top-seed in the region and take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the opening round. U-N-I swept Milwaukee in three games back in October but Panther coach Bobbi Peterson says this is a different challenge. As they weren’t a full team when they last played them, and every team is energized by playing in the tournament. Peterson says there is no excuse for taking team lightly in the post-season.Both teams are making their fifth straight appearance in the tournament.
