Float honors Delaware County servicemen

June 7, 2003 By admin

A float that’ll be in a dozen parades this summer honors servicemen and women from Delaware County who’re on active duty. The float was the brainchild of Curt and Shirley Chesmore of Manchester. Curt Chesmore says the float’s decorated with flags and the pictures of 32 men and women from the area who’re serving in the military. Rita McGrane has three sons serving in Iraq. McGrane says one son left at the end of February. Her other two sons left shortly after Mother’s Day. Both are military engineers and she says they’ll be helping rebuild Iraq and get the country back on its feet. The float’s in parades this afternoon in Hopkinton and this evening in Dyersville.
