Fire kills two near Newton

May 18, 2005 By admin

An early morning trailer fire in central Iowa was deadly. Newton Fire Marshal Tom Rodewald was at the scene on the north edge of the Newton city limits. He says, “Upon arrival the front porch area and center of the trailer was completely involved. There were two fatalities. No one else was injured and no one else escaped from the trailer.” Rodewald says the victims were a man and a woman that died, but they aren’t releasing their names until their family has been notified. Rodewald says the State Fire Marshal is also helping in the investigation and it appears that it is an accidental fire. Rodewald says this is the second and third fire-related deaths in Newton this year.
