Iowa coach not a fan of early Big 10 game

December 22, 2008 By admin

Two days after locking up the mythical state title with a victory at Drake the Iowa Hawkeye women get an early start to the Big Ten Race when they visit Wisconsin.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says she understands why they have to do it with an 18 game schedule, but she says personally, she doesn’t like it. Bluder says with the conference tournament remaining a week ahead of the men’s tournament, it’s the way things have to be scheduled.

Next year they will have a weekend early in December that they set aside for a Big Ten game. Bluder says the nonconference season should be for getting ready for the conference season, so she’s not a fan of the early start.

Iowa is 7-4. The Badgers are considered the surprise of the Big Ten non-league schedule. They are off to a 10-1 start.
