Iowa women finish regular season with a win

March 4, 2013 By Todd Kimm

The Iowa Hawkeye women broke open a close game in the second half as they cruised to a 62-45 win at Northwestern in their regular season finale. The Hawks finish 8-8 in the Big Ten, 19-11 overall and coach Lisa Bluder says it was a big victory for her team.

“I feel like it does get us into the NCAA Tournament, I fell like 19 wins, 8-8 in the Big Ten the second most difficult conference in America,” Bluder says. She says they would have like to have finished higher in the conference standings, but just one game separates them from the teams above them.

Sophomore Melissa Dixon scored 21 points to lead the Hawks. The Hawks and Wildcats meet in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday.
