Mason City man charged with OWI, child endangerment after motorcycle crash

June 24, 2013 By Radio Iowa Contributor

Authorities say the Mason City man who crashed his motorcycle in a ditch on Saturday while carrying his young son was driving drunk. Thirty-two-year-old James Francis was charged with OWI third offense, child endangerment, failure to maintain control, no insurance, violation of a restricted license requiring an ignition interlock device, and driving while suspended.

That’s after officials with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department say he lost control of his motorcycle while traveling westbound on 205th Street at Ulmus Avenue just west of Rock Falls at about 3:40 P.M. Six-year-old Jonas Hollenbach was taken by a private vehicle to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Francis was being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $5,000 bond. The online jail roster does not show him currently being an inmate.
